Somos will continue to grow power for low-wage workers and immigrant families. Our upcoming legislative priorities include:
Advocating for more funding for adult education such as ESL, GED, Literacy, and Integrated Education Training (IET) programs in rural communities.
Securing flexible funding for support services and economic aid for workers in job training programs and stronger partnerships with community-based organizations.
Lifting restrictions For immigrant adult workers who can’t access in-state tuition and financial aid for credit and non-credit workforce certification programs.
Securing funding to support immigration legal services.
Safeguarding personal driver’s license information to prevent it from being sold to companies that may share it with ICE.
Preventing the state, cities and counties from using local resources to assist ICE in civil immigration enforcement.
Developing an economic relief program to support workers and families affected by I-9 audits, immigration raids, detentions, and deportations.
