Somos will continue to grow power for low-wage workers and immigrant families. Our upcoming legislative priorities include:
Immigrant Safety Act (HB 9-Plus)
Protect New Mexico families by banning new immigrant detention contracts and 287(g) agreements, and preventing state and local agencies from participating in federal civil immigration enforcement.
Driver Privacy & Safety Act
Establish guardrails on the use of license plate reader data to protect privacy and prevent surveillance from being used against immigrants, patients seeking care, or people exercising their right to protest.
Office of New Americans
Make the Office of New Americans permanent and fully funded to provide statewide support for labor rights, legal education, workforce development, and immigrant integration.
Funding for Expanded Legal Services
Increase and sustain state funding for legal representation, hotlines, and community education to ensure due process and protect immigrant families across New Mexico.
Expanding Workforce Development
Expand recurring investments in workforce training programs, including integrated education and training pathways, so low-income and immigrant workers can access high-demand careers.
